The Presbyterian Women is a very dedicated group that meets monthly for desert and bible study. We are a very informal group and welcome anyone to join us. Typically, the group will meet in the evenings throughout the “school” year. In January, the group will have the annual luncheon at Red Lobster. (Red Lobster is starting to expect us ).
The Presbyterian Women run the annual Thanksoffering worship service in November.
This year, PW will be learning about our Native American sisters in Christ. We will look into the factors of forced relocation, outlawing of sacred native ceremonies, high infant and childhood mortality rates to name only a few. All these factors have shaped these women’s faith which has remained strong.
At the September meeting, we will host La Donna Fay, Synod representative who chaired the 2010 Mission Experience to visit Native American reservations across South Dakota. Most recently she and other women of our Synod visited there in August 2011.
Starting in October 2011, our own Tammy Rider will present 6 weekly sessions of The Beatitudes. These will take place at the church on Wednesdays beginning October 6 at 1:00.
On Sunday, November 20th we will hear Elona Street-Stewart from Minneapolis who will share some of her personal experiences as an American Indian woman as well as a Presbyterian minister’s wife.
Later in the year we look at Domestic Abuse among women and children with emphasis on those who live in Rochester.
Next spring we anticipate a new event, a Mother/Daughter/Friend Luncheon.
We appreciate your support over the years whether it be Mother’s Day cards for the Mosquito Net project, supplies for Crisis Nursery or Alternative Gift projects. We welcome your presence in these newest endeavors.
